RareInsight Shines at ASBCB Codeathon April 2024!

I'm thrilled to share that our team, RareInsight, secured 2nd place in the Best-Executed Projects – Pipeline Development Track at the ASBCB Codeathon April 2024. It was an incredible experience collaborating with my teammates Kimberly, Eva Akurut, and Gideon Akuamoah-Wiafe, under the guidance of Olaitan I. Awe.

Our project focused on tackling challenges in rare disease research. We developed an open-source, interactive dashboard for both clinicians and patients, aimed at improving genetic variant data interpretation. This work has also been published in a peer-reviewed article: “RareInsight simplifies the communication of genetic results for rare disease patients” (Scientific Reports, 2025), highlighting our approach to advance rare disease diagnosis and foster collaborative research in healthcare.
